Letter from Mongolian Head of State (Yumjaagiyn Tsedenbal) to Polish Prime Minister (Józef Cyrankiewicz)

15 Jul 1963
Description: In this letter, Mongolian Chairman of the Council of Ministers Yumjaagiyn Tsedenbal appeals to his Polish counterpart Józef Cyrankiewicz for consideration of Mongolia's acceptance in the Warsaw Pact. Tsedenbal states the paramount need for strengthening Mongolia's defensive capabilities in the light of alleged US moves to equip Japan with new weapons of mass destruction, and argues that Mongolia's joining the Warsaw Pact would be in the interest of collective security.
