East German Statement (Current Development of NATO's Armament Policy)

Description: This document is a statement of the East German Ministry of Defense that was introduced during the 14th session of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Defense Ministers in Moscow in 1981. It refers to the analysis given by the head of the Soviet military intelligence service GRU, Petr Ivashutin, on the current development of NATO's armament policy. East German Minister of Defense Heinz Hoffmann agrees with Ivashutin's analysis. The statement also addresses the military capabilities of West Germany, their future development, and the current state of NATO's land, air, and naval forces.
