Report on the State of the Hungarian Armed Forces as of 1 January 1951

1 Jan 1951
Description: This report summarizes and analyzes the military and general condition of the Hungarian army at the beginning of 1951. The manpower, the state of the military equipment, the level of military education, and the current structure of the force are discussed. The main issues are a low level of combat readiness, the limited military training of the army's officers and generals, and a lack of advanced armament. In order to overcome these deficiencies, a development plan is presented. The report also summarizes how the Hungarian Communist Party took control of the country's armed forces.
