Report on Romanian Relations with the Warsaw Pact

Aspects of Bilateral Relations between Romania and the USSR, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and East Germany

Description: This report refers to the main aspects of bilateral relations between Romania and the USSR, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and East Germany respectively. Differences of opinion on a number of issues such as the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the situation in Czechoslovakia, and the conflict in the Middle East are discussed. From 1968 to 1969, Romania attached political importance to cooperation with other Socialist countries. Commercial exchanges as well as activities in the fields of culture, science, and the media are positively evaluated. Treaties to promote tourism were signed with Czechoslovakia, Poland, and the USSR.
