Report by Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Trade (Lachezar Avramov) on Sale of Armaments to Iraq

21 Mar 1969
Description: This is a report by Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Trade Lachezar Avramov on the export of weapons and armaments to Iraq and the provision of related credits. Avramov reviews the development of Bulgaria's military exports to Iraq and the results of negotiations on closer cooperation in this field. He proposes that a long-term agreement be signed, that a joint Bulgarian-Iraqi commission be formed, and that Iraq be granted a loan worth US$16 million for arms purchases. Enclosed is a formal draft resolution incorporating Avramov's suggestions.
