7 Dec 1981
Description: This is a report from East German Minister of Defense Heinz Hoffmann to the East German head of state, Erich Honecker. It reviews the discussion of the 14th session of the Warsaw Pact (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Moscow in 1981, including: i) NATO's military plans, ii) the improvement of the United Armed Forces' (UAF) defense readiness, and iii) new forms of combat training of the UAF. Hoffmann concludes by mentioning the CMD's discussions on Poland. Due to Romanian and Hungarian objections, the CMD has decided not to release a statement on the situation in Poland.
