Description:
This order was issued by the chief of the East German Staatssicherheit (Stasi) intelligence service, Erich Mielke. It calls for the formation of an independent unit within the Stasi, "Department 'R'", to be charged with surveillance of the Allied Military Liaison Missions. All branches of the Stasi agency are urged to support the work of Department "R" with all means available.
