US Military Contribution to NATO Until 1985/1986

12 Jun 1981
Description: This document presents details on US military contributions to NATO until 1985-1986 as planned and evaluated by the US military leadership. It was prepared by the East German Stasi (Staatssicherheit) intelligence agency. The US assumes that its commitment to NATO will continue on a high level. However, increased US military spending serves as a basis to project US military might beyond NATO. The US affirms its readiness to defend NATO and to fulfill all its obligations within the framework of NATO operational planning.
