Description:
This report provides an overview of the Soviet leaders’ visit to three Asian countries - India, Burma and Afghanistan. The report comments favorably on the status of Indo-Soviet relations, foremost regarding Nehru's supportive stance on the question of Taiwan and the offshore islands. Nehru voices criticism on clandestine Soviet support for the Indian CP and argues in favor of the dissolution of the Cominform. The Soviet delegation agrees to further aid deliveries to India and concludes a barter agreement with Burma. In reaction to the creation of the Baghdad Pact, the Afghan leadership moves closer to the USSR. The Soviets promise delivery of large-scale military aid to Afghanistan.
