Opinion of East Germany

22 Dec 1969
Description: This is a statement by East German Defense Minister Heinz Hoffmann on features and developments in West German security and defense policy and West Germany's relations with NATO. Hoffmann presented the statement during the first session of the Warsaw Pact Committee of Defense Ministers in Moscow 1969. He believes that West Germany is expanding its military capabilities and is modernizing and restructuring the armed forces. The country is seen as pursuing an aggressive military policy that is partially camouflaged with peace rhetoric.
