Public Declaration on Security in Europe

8 Jul 1966
Description: This document is the final version of the declaration of Warsaw Pact members on the future strengthening of peace and security in Europe. It sharply criticizes US foreign policy in terms of European security issues, and on a larger scale, for hindering national independence movements in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. The Warsaw Pact calls upon the West European governments to broaden economic, cultural, and technological ties with the socialist bloc, on the principles of mutual respect and non-intervention despite differences in their socio-political systems. The document further urges Western Europe not to permit the nuclear militarization of West Germany.
