Memorandum about Talks with the US Secretary of State (George P. Shultz) in Moscow

15 Apr 1987
Description: This memorandum of a conversation between US Secretary of State George P. Shultz and the general secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, focuses on the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Moscow's readiness to destroy tactical missiles and reduce strategic missiles within a specific period is stressed. No agreement is reached on space weapons. Moscow criticizes US initiatives, such as the relocation of intermediate-range missiles to Alaska and their conversion to operational tactical rockets, and states its intent to continue talks with the US regarding nuclear testing.
