Statement by West Germany

-undated-
Description: This statement expresses West Germany's appreciation for efforts undertaken in the Study of the Future Tasks of the Alliance. The West German statement argues that the study's principal goal is to clarify why NATO is indispensable even in a period of détente. According to Bonn, the tasks and functions of the alliance have not changed, and therefore no institutional innovations are required. The statement lists all substantive issues that the West German side believes should be covered by the final report to the ministers.
