8 Feb 1951
Description: This documents consists of background material for a meeting between leading persons of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Central Committee (CC) of the Soviet Communist Party. It introduces the members of the CPI delegation, outlines the development of the Indian Communist Party since its first party congress and presents the conflicting viewpoints of Rajeshwar Rao and Makineni Punnaiah (Basavapunnaiah) on the one hand and of Shripat Dange and Ajoy (AK) Ghosh on the other. It ends with a list of questions that focus on whether a revolutionary situation exists in India, whether the CPI should undertake an armed struggle for power and whether the Chinese revolution might be an example for India.
