Description: These are the minutes of the 24th meeting of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense in Budapest in 1989. Questions discussed include the further development of the United Armed Forces until the year 2000, trends in military-technical cooperation, specifications for an integrated early warning system to detect use of weapons of mass destruction, and preparations for the 35th anniversary of the WP. The discussions and decisions reflect the dramatic political changes of that time. The annex includes a timetable for the anniversary ceremony and an official communiqué.
