Talk by Gen. Wojciech Jaruzelski

5 Feb 2002
Description: This is the transcript of a talk by Polish General Wojciech Jaruzelsi on the question of sovereignty within the Warsaw Pact, delivered at the National Defense Academy in Warsaw in 2002. He argues that membership in the Warsaw Pact was the only way to secure Polish sovereignty after the Second World War. He also states that Poland managed to extend its independence within the scope of Soviet influence. Towards the end of his speech, he highlights the fact that Poland was the only Warsaw Pact member to have developed a territorial defense concept of its own.
