State of Development and Planning Concerning Forces and Armaments of US Navy and Marine Corps for NATO

Description: This document presents information about the development of and planning for the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. It was prepared by the East German Stasi (Staatssicherheit) intelligence agency. The authors conclude that the US will fulfill its commitments to NATO with respect to the Navy and the Marine Corps. Against the background of increased military spending, the US continues to make major contributions to NATO military planning.
