Opinion of East Germany

27 Nov 1989
Description: This document outlines East German views regarding planning for military-technical cooperation among Warsaw Pact (WP) members in the context of reduced defense spending. These remarks were presented during the 24th session of the WP's Committee of Ministers of Defense (CDM) in Budapest in 1989. The document stresses the importance of military-technical cooperation to compensate for NATO's technological measures. Due to the drastic political changes and the ongoing conventional disarmament negotiations in Vienna, planning measures in this field are delayed. East Germany criticizes the current state of cooperation within the WP.
