Czech Record of the Meeting of Party Secretaries Following the PCC Meeting in Sofia

Description: This is a Czechoslovak report on the outcomes of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Sofia in 1985. It records the speeches of the respective Warsaw Pact Party Secretaries. The Soviet First Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev emphasizes the need for institutionalizing the meetings of party secretaries, and outlines the economic problems and possibilities for economic cooperation and integration of the Soviet bloc. He further discusses possibilities of knowledge transfer and research development within the Bloc, and the relationship with China. The other Warsaw Pact Party Secretaries back the Soviet proposals and point to their respective economic problems.
