Analysis of the Current State of the Aggressive NATO Bloc's Armed Forces and Trends in Their Development (Report)

1 Dec 1981
Description: This is the transcript of a report on the state and development of NATO's armed forces that was given during the 14th session of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Defense Ministers in Moscow in 1981. According to the head of the Soviet military intelligence service GRU, Petr Ivashutin, the development of NATO's military capabilities is evidence of preparations for war against the Soviet bloc. The report addresses NATO's process of armament and assesses its level of combat readiness in the European theater of war as high. Ivashutin also refers to NATO's plans to deploy Pershing II medium-range ballistic missiles as well as cruise missiles in Western Europe.
