Hungarian Minutes of the Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Ministers26 Feb 1968 |
||
Description:
The minutes of the February 1968 conference of deputy foreign ministers in East Berlin focus on the proposed draft of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The only participant to set forth objections to the clauses outlined by the Soviet Union in the treaty is Romania. The rest of the participants express impatience with the Romanian opposition, criticizing it as extremist and detrimental to the expediency of signing the treaty, which is seen as a vital instrument in preventing West Germany and other non-nuclear countries from acquiring nuclear weapons.
