Record of a Meeting of Party Secretaries Following the PCC Meeting in Berlin

Description: This is a Czech report on the outcomes of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Berlin in 1987. It records the speeches of the respective Warsaw Pact Party Secretaries. Mikhail Gorbachev emphasizes the need for closer cooperation and possible Warsaw Pact reform, outlines the economic problems of the Soviet Union, and discusses the relationship with China. The Romanian president has diverging views on defense policy. The other Warsaw Pact Party Secretaries support the Soviet proposal on conventional armaments reduction, assess the relationship with China, and point to their respective economic problems.
