Speech by the Soviet Foreign Minister (Andrei A. Gromyko)

Description: This is the transcript of a speech given by Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko at the 1984 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Berlin. He condemns US policy decisions such as the Strategic Defense Initiative, and proposes further US-Soviet talks. He then analyzes the international political situation in Central America and the Caribbean, as well as Sino-Soviet relations. At the end of his speech, Gromyko emphasizes the wish of all Warsaw Pact signatories to extend the validity of the Warsaw Treaty by 20 years.
