Description:
This document compiles extracts of the North Atlantic Council meeting in which Belgian Foreign Minister Pierre Harmel puts forward his proposal of an inquiry into the progress and future objectives of NATO. The goal of this joint analysis was to examine the impact of major events since the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty on the objectives and methods of NATO. A further aim of the proposed study was to highlight the need to improve consultation within the organization. It concludes by noting that the Belgian proposal will be reviewed at the meeting the following day. Collection: Harmel Report
