Interview with Gen. Jan Drzewiecki

8 May 1997
Description: This is a transcript of an interview with Polish General Jan Drzewiecki, who served as chief of the armed forces' operations department in the 1950s. He outlines operational planning, his 1956 proposal for a Warsaw Pact reform, and his memorandum contesting Poland's military subordination to the Soviet Union. He admits the existence of offensive operational plans against Denmark and comments on a military exercise in May 1950. He then reflects on the Communist system and assesses it critically.
