Declaration by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Polish People's Republic (Józef Cyrankiewicz) at the Meeting of the Political Consultative Committee

Description: This document is a transcript of a speech by the Polish chairman of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Józef Cyrankiewicz, at the 1956 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Prague. Cyrankiewicz says that his country shares concerns about West Germany's remilitarization and supports the creation of an East German national military to counteract NATO's ambitions in the area. Cyrankiewicz also expresses support for Soviet foreign policy on issues of disarmament and collective security. He welcomes the expansion of political and economic ties with developing countries in Asia and Africa.
