Remarks on Military-Technical Aspects of Warsaw Pact Military Doctrine and the Final Document of the Stockholm Conference

26 Nov 1987
Description: This summary presents key elements of a report by Soviet Minister of Defense Dmitri Iazov on the consequences of the newly adopted military doctrine of the Warsaw Pact (WP). Iazov's report was delivered during the 20th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Bucharest in 1987. He stresses the necessity of maintaining sufficiently large and well-equipped armed forces, and of maintaining technological momentum. The nature of defensive warfare is discussed and crucial points for success are highlighted.
