Conception Paper for the Forthcoming Meeting of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity OrganizationMay 1988 |
||
Description:
This paper outlines ideas for the East German position in the forthcoming VII. Congress of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization.
It assesses an overall lack of success of Third World countries to achieve economic independence subsequent to the political one. The paper recommends a reorientation towards the AAPSO by concentrating on development instead of ideological approaches. Concentrating on specific support for development efforts and on human rights, this new approach would strengthen the influence of Socialist countries on the Third World.
The concept paper also proposes a number of organizational and conceptual changes to the AAPSO. Collection: Indo-Soviet Relations
