Draft Statement by the General Secretary of the KSČ (Gustáv Husák) on the Speech by the Warsaw Pact Deputy Supreme Commander (Ivan Iakubovskii)

Description: This is a draft statement on Marshal Ivan Iakubovsky's speech at the 1972 PCC meeting, presented by the general secretary of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, Gustáv Husák. Husák comments that the quality of the military forces of the Warsaw Pact has increased, and offers a positive assessment of the Unified Command as well as of the functioning of its branches. He also emphasizes that the Czechoslovak People's Army is an indispensable part of the United Armed Forces of the Warsaw Pact. Húsak reports on the status of its ground forces and air power, and stresses the peaceful character of Socialism.
