Opinion of East Germany

Description: This document reflects the opinions of the East German government regarding the publication of statistical details on the respective force levels and armaments of the Warsaw Pact (WP) and NATO. It was delivered by East German Defense Minister Heinz Kessler during the 23rd session of the WP Committee of Ministers of Defense in Sofia in 1988. East Germany fully supports the Soviet Union's unilateral disarmament measures as well as the publication of details on the respective force levels of NATO and the WP. NATO is depicted as hampering the disarmament process.
