Description: This is the transcript of a speech by Miloš Jakeš following the 1989 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Bucharest. The General Secretary admits that political changes are necessary in Czechoslovakia. However, he states that the majority of the population backs the socialist policy of the country. He also argues in favor of party controlled democratization and mentions the oppositional forces to be suppressed.
