Record of Discussion of the Unified Command

2 Dec 1960
Description: This record summarizes the results of a discussion between the Unified Command of the Warsaw Pact and representatives of the East German National People's Army (NVA). Topics include the structure of the NVA in peace and war as demanded by the Unified Command and suggestions for new military armament for the NVA. The NVA is expected to provide two tank divisions and four motorized rifle divisions on permanent standby in peacetime, and three additional motorized rifle divisions in wartime. Attached are several appendixes, one of which presents a list of military equipment received by the NVA from the Soviet Union in 1961.
