Description:
This communiqué (published after the 1980 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Warsaw) states that the committee summarized the results of Warsaw Pact's activities over 25 years, and discussed problems and tasks related to the struggle for détente and security in Europe and for strengthening world peace. Further, a proposal is adopted to accelerate preparations for a conference on military détente and disarmament in Europe, where the following issues are to be discussed: (i) non-use of force or threat of force, (ii) inviolability of borders and territorial integrity of states, (iii) peaceful settlement of disputes and non-interference in internal affairs, and (iv) respect for human rights and basic freedoms.
