Opinion of the People's Republic of Romania

3 Dec 1979
Description: This document presents the Romanian opinion regarding Soviet peace initiatives and related discussions. Romanian Defense Minister Ion Coman presented these remarks during the 12th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in Warsaw in 1979. Romania welcomes and supports the Soviet initiatives. Furthermore, Coman proposes far-reaching disarmament steps, including unilateral ones. As an example, Coman outlines Romanian cuts in defense spending and suggests that the CDM support such measures.
