Defense Policy and Military Forces of Denmark

4 Oct 1976
Description: This document covers NATO's standpoint on developments on its northern flank, especially in Denmark. It was prepared by the East German Stasi (Staatssicherheit) intelligence agency. Included is an evaluation of the Soviet and Warsaw Pact presence in this area, an assessment of the Soviet détente policy and its strategic aims, and an analysis of Denmark's membership in NATO as well as the state of its armed forces. At the end, conclusions are drawn on the further development of Denmark's armed forces, with special emphasis on financial problems.
