The State of the Means of Communication and of the Command System in the Theaters of War (Presentation)

Description: This is a report by the chief of staff of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) United Armed Forces, Sergei Shtemenko, on the state of the communication and command infrastructure in different theatres of war. Shtemenko's report was delivered during the third session of the WP Committee of Defense Ministers (CDM) in Budapest 1971. He reviews and contrasts the communication and command infrastructure of NATO and the WP and addresses technical issues for their further development. A number of organizational steps are necessary to establish a truly integrated WP communication system.
