Memorandum Regarding Western Military Assistance for Denmark

16 Feb 1957
Description: This memorandum summarizes remarks by the Danish chief of the joint chief of staffs, Major-General Paul Hammershøy, with regard to Western military assistance in case of a Soviet attack on Denmark. The memorandum states that strategic elements of the US and British air forces will start bombing at once, and outlines the organization of ground and naval support measures from outside Denmark. The paper points out that additional forces could assist only after a longer time and that such help is neither promised nor planned.
