28 Apr 1967
Description: This monograph surveys the evolution of the principles and methods of NATO political consultation. The first part draws conclusions on the achievements, principles, and methods of the alliance. It identifies the willingness of the governments to consult as the decisive factor for NATO's success. The second part provides a chronological analysis of the evolution of NATO political consulation between 1949 and 1962. It distinguishes three stages of development, with the Lisbon conference 1952 and the Committee of the Three Wise Men 1965 marking the transition points.
