This is the summary of a report on US foreign policy and on NATO's future military policy. It was delivered by the head of the Soviet military intelligence service GRU, Petr Ivashutin, during the 14th session of the Warsaw Pact (WP) Committee of Defense Ministers. Ivashutin discusses NATO's military capabilities and force deployment, as well as the Western alliance's planning for conflict with the WP countries. According to Ivashutin, NATO's military doctrine has an offensive character and entails the attempt to establish military superiority over the WP.
