Description:
In his speech at the 1980 Political Consultative Committee (PCC) meeting in Warsaw, First Secretary Leonid Brezhnev of the Soviet Central Committee evaluates the work of the Warsaw Pact in its 25 years of history in terms of spreading Socialism and strengthening international peace and security. He also assesses the international political situation, criticizing the growing international tensions between the Soviet Union and its allies on the one hand, and the West on the other. At the end of his speech, he proposes a global summit on military détente and disarmament in Europe.
