Report

11 Apr 1989
Description: This is a report of the 1989 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Berlin. The main agenda item of this meeting is the renewed détente process in Europe. The Warsaw Pact foreign ministers agree to push for disarmament in the fields of conventional weapons and tactical nuclear forces. The results of the CSCE negotiations in Vienna receive a two-fold echo: the Soviet Union appreciates the results, while Romania, East Germany, and Czechoslovakia do not. The ministers further stress the need for better coordination of Warsaw Pact activities.
