Report on the Visit of the Indian Prime Minister (Indira Gandhi) to the GDR

4 Jul 1976
Description: This documents describes the events and the content of conversations during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to the GDR in July 1976. The talks between Gandhi and the East German leadership cover economic relations as well as domestic politics of both countries. Gandhi describes Indian foreign policies as keeping to the non-aligned tradition but also stresses close relations with the Socialist Bloc. Regarding the German question, however, there are still disagreements between the two sides which complicate the negotiations over a common communique during the visit.
