Description: This is a report on the 1983 meeting of the Warsaw Pact's Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Sofia. The Warsaw Pact foreign ministers discuss Romania's opposition to the planned communiqué, which prevents the other participants from condemning the US leaders for their anti-Soviet rhetoric. The communiqué expresses concern about the deteriorating international situation and calls for a Western response to the Warsaw Pact's disarmament initiatives. This report also includes a summary of the foreign ministers' individual speeches.
