Memorandum by the Polish Foreign Minister (Adam Rapacki)

20 Jul 1963
Description: In this memorandum, Polish Foreign Minister Adam Rapacki addresses the members of the Polish Politburo on the question of Mongolia's ascension to the Warsaw Pact. He argues that such a move would be disadvantageous to the interests of the Socialist bloc, claiming that in addition to causing further escalation of the intra-bloc conflicts, it would be perceived as a provocation on China and undermine the political image of the alliance on an international level.
