||
Description:
This report outlines the future competences and objectives of NATO in the economic field. Given the growing Soviet threat in the non-military field, this paper assigns top priority to assessing the economic implications for NATO, promoting economic consultations in the organization, and defining the scope of direct NATO action. Regarding the analysis of the future tasks of NATO in the economic field, the report identifies three main subjects. These are cooperation among member countries, particularly with respect to common defense, as well as foreign relations of NATO member states with the Sino-Soviet bloc and with developing countries.
