Assessment of French Defense Policy by West German Military Leadership

Description: This document was prepared by the East German intelligence agency Stasi (Staatssicherheit) and presents the West German army leadership's evaluation of French military policy. The document contains details on the current and future strengthening of the French armed forces. Other parts of the paper focus on the French attitude towards NATO, the effects of reduced military spending, and the reorganization of the armed forces. The military budget is examined in detail, with special attention given to each of the different branches of the armed forces.
