Report on the 17th Session of the CMD

Description: This is a report from the East German Minister of Defense Heinz Hoffmann to East German head of state Erich Honecker. The report reviews issues discussed at the 17th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Budapest in 1984. This includes i) NATO's military doctrine and developments in the Western and Southwestern theaters of war, ii) the integration of the WP air defense system, and iii) preparations for the 30th anniversary of the alliance. Hoffmann concludes by listing Romania's objections regarding the celebrations of the WP anniversary.
