Description: This document presents the results of an analysis on the state and development of NATO's armed forces in Europe until the year 2000. It was introduced during the 21st session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Moscow in 1988. The overview offers quantitative and qualitative estimates on the development of NATO's land and air forces, as well as an assessment of planned changes in the land, air, and naval forces.
