East German Intelligence Assessment of NATO's Intelligence on Warsaw Pact

Description: This assessment, issued by the East German Staatssicherheit (Stasi) intelligence agency, provides information on how NATO evaluates the military capabilities of the Warsaw Pact. The authors judge that the West has concluded that the Warsaw Pact military strength and war preparations are constantly on the rise. The document addresses NATO's knowledge on several key aspects of WP military and defense strategy, such as the development of its conventional forces and the steps taken in the modernization of military equipment.
