Proposals for Improving the Mechanism of Political and Military Cooperation within the Warsaw Pact (Presentations)

17 Oct 1988
Description: This set of three documents presents the opinions of East Germany, Romania, and Czechoslovakia on the reform of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) work and structure. They are introduced during the 22nd session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Prague in 1988. Romania proposes a fundamental overhaul of the WP aiming at more representation of the non-Soviet WP members and a stronger focus on civil cooperation. East Germany and Czechoslovakia dismiss this proposal and argue for adopting only minor changes.
